April 14, 2026Invested in our Community’s Health and Future
Merrillan Electric & Water Utility is proud to announce Kaylee Carrillo as the recipient of the 2026 Dairyland Power Cooperative Scholarship! Following a formal review of applications, the Village Board voted to officially award Kaylee the $1,000 scholarship during their regular monthly meeting on April 9, 2026.

Kaylee, a standout student-athlete at Lincoln High School, will be attending Chippewa Valley Technical College (CVTC) to pursue a degree in Nursing. Her application stood out for its profound understanding of how local utility services directly impact healthcare. Kaylee highlighted that reliable power is not just a convenience but a life-saving necessity for medical facilities, while also noting how energy-efficient technology can lower healthcare costs and environmental pollution.
Beyond her academic insights, Kaylee has a proven track record of living out the “Concern for Community” principle. Following a major local storm, she was recognized with a Nice Neighbor Award for her tireless work helping to clear fallen trees and branches from Merrillan’s roadways and sidewalks to restore safe access for her neighbors.
We are honored to support a future healthcare professional who truly understands the “power” of community service.
Congratulations, Kaylee! Your Hornet pride and dedication to Merrillan make us all proud.
