Village Response to PSC ATC Grid Forward Decision
October 30, 2025The Village of Merrillan has clarified its ordinance to reinforce existing no parking regulations along US Highway 12/27 (Hammond, Diagonal, and Washington Streets). While no parking signs will be installed soon, the ordinance is in effect now, as it always has been, and these areas remain designated no parking zones—they never have been parking zones, nor are they marked as such.
Why This Matters:
Proper adherence to these regulations is essential for community safety, as parking in these zones can create traffic hazards, impede snow removal, block driveways, and increase risks for pedestrians and motorists year-round.

Please note that the maps are provided for reference only and do not exclude or replace any other designated no parking areas or regulations.
Enforcement:
The Village will strictly enforce these no parking zones 24/7, issuing citations and towing vehicles as necessary. Ignoring these regulations will not be tolerated—violators will face penalties without exception.
Additionally, it is illegal to drive over, park on, or straddle curbs, block sidewalk access with vehicles or in any other manner, park or drive in the terrace (between the roadway and sidewalk) area, or otherwise impede the proper flow of traffic and pedestrians. There should be no objects of any kind blocking sidewalks, especially to ensure unobstructed access for pedestrians, including individuals in wheelchairs or with other mobility needs.
