To the person who decided to steal the push mower from the Oakwood Cemetery shed: will you please go mow between the graves? In addition could you please get all of the ditches and steep hillsides within the Village?

In all seriousness, this is a new low. The Village, and other residents, have experienced multiple thefts over some time. Previously the Village had a theft of the fuel in the tanks used for our water wells, yes, your drinking water.

It is requested that if you are aware of any thefts that they be reported. You can also use Crime Stoppers such as the P3Tips app to report crime like this, and many others, anonymously.

This type of behavior will not be tolerated any longer by this Community.

UPDATE 07/10/2023: Siren control has been replaced and siren is back in operation.

Earlier today upon power restoration to Bunting Lane and Lower Lake the outdoor emergency siren started sounding. We had to cut power to it in order to turn the siren off. Upon investigation it was found the control board had some sort of surge and will need to be replaced. In the meantime, the siren will not function. Always be sure to monitor forecasts and the best method for warnings is monitoring a weather radio or local media.

The Village is experiencing power outages in the area of Bunting Ln and Lower Lake. There are trees down on power lines from the wind. We are actively working on a resolution but recent weather and the challenging location of the outage may delay restoration.

The Village will be having our Village Wide Garage Sale May 19th-21st.

Power in the Village of Merrillan has been restored. If you have any issues please let us know. Crews are still working to clear snow among other tasks. We have had some exceptional challenges with the weather, so thank you for your patience today.

We are aware of the power outages and are working to restore power as soon as possible. Safety is a concern due to the heavy snow and wind snapping trees and branches again along with blowing and drifting snow. Thank you for your patience.

We met with Waste Management at the most recent board meeting on April 11th, 2023 regarding concerns about missed pickups for garbage. Here are some details from that meeting:

– First, the trash cans have to be placed in a certain manner in order for the new trucks to pick up the bins. The cans must have the lid opening portion facing the roadway as seen in the attached image on this post. If there are multiple can set out, they must be at least three (3) feet apart for the same reasons.

– If you have anything other than the 96 gallon trash bin set out it will not be picked up. Additional bins are available by calling Waste Management directly and requesting one. There is a monthly fee billed directly to you for each additional bin beyond the first one.

– If your trash was set out correctly and on time (by 7am) and then not picked up, please notify the Village as soon as possible. You can either use the report service issues form on the website or call the hall directly. If no one knows it was missed there is not a lot that can be done. If the truck is still around they may still be able to get it, if not they will schedule a pickup as soon as possible.
