Once again we are faced with vandalism within the Village. Attached you will find pictures of vandalism at Gile Park, which occurred around June 3rd, and at the Lower Lake beach around June 15th.
Most people are aware of this, but some clearly need a reminder. This costs the Village money, resources, and time to fix or clean up. If you are one who did this or participated, you should know there can be serious consequences, whether from these incidents or your future actions of you so choose to behave in such a manner.
If anyone has any information on these or other incidents, please reach out.
Power restored. If you are still without power please let us know.
We are investigating the power outage. Source unknown at this time.

Attn: Village Residents
Over the past several years the Village has experienced an increase in feral cats. Recently
the Village in coordination with the Jackson County Animal Shelter has taken steps to
mitigate the issue. It is requested that Village residents do not feed the feral cats or
otherwise enable the growth of the problem.
Feral cats, and other animals, can spread disease, viruses, and cause other issues. This
includes feline immunodeficiency virus, feline leukemia virus, feline panleukopenia virus,
rabies, and distemper to other animals. Zoonotic diseases such as rabies, toxoplasma
gondii, cutaneous larval migrans, tularemia, and plague to humans.
As you can see, controlling a feral cat population is important. If you wish to participate in
the program please contact the Village Hall for additional information.
Again, do not feed or otherwise enable feral cats within our community. There are risks, as
outlined, involved in doing so and potential further action will be taken as necessary to
continue our mitigation efforts. If you have any cats within your possession they need to be
properly vaccinated and licensed according to ordinance.
If you have any questions please feel free to reach out. The letter is attached below.
To the person who decided to steal the push mower from the Oakwood Cemetery shed: will you please go mow between the graves? In addition could you please get all of the ditches and steep hillsides within the Village?
In all seriousness, this is a new low. The Village, and other residents, have experienced multiple thefts over some time. Previously the Village had a theft of the fuel in the tanks used for our water wells, yes, your drinking water.
It is requested that if you are aware of any thefts that they be reported. You can also use Crime Stoppers such as the P3Tips app to report crime like this, and many others, anonymously.
This type of behavior will not be tolerated any longer by this Community.
Letter/Post Updated 09/26/2023
Good Morning Merrillan Residents!
Attached to this post you will find a letter that the Village is going to send to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation regarding speed reduction zones. Please read it thoroughly and if you wish to assist in taking action, please stop by the Village Hall and sign the petition. Special attention to Highway 95 East and Bunting Lane residents, but the letter touches on all main highways.
If you need it brought to you, we will gladly do so. The letter is also available to read at the Village Hall.
Any additional feedback is appreciated. We have attempted this multiple times in the past with no action being taken. We are hoping we can get the DOT to act this time around.
The letter with supporting documentation was sent on 09/26/2023. Updates will be provided when available.
Thank you,
Chris Wruck
Merrillan Village President
Earlier today upon power restoration to Bunting Lane and Lower Lake the outdoor emergency siren started sounding. We had to cut power to it in order to turn the siren off. Upon investigation it was found the control board had some sort of surge and will need to be replaced. In the meantime, the siren will not function. Always be sure to monitor forecasts and the best method for warnings is monitoring a weather radio or local media.
